Do EltaMD Sunscreens Contain Benzene?

With more and more information and controversy surrounding sunscreens and their potentially harmful ingredients, it’s important to keep updated on what you could be using. Most sunscreens have avobenzone and oxybenzone, and EltaMD products do not contain these ingredients. Some physicians have asked EltaMD about the Citizen’s Petition submitted to the U.S. FDA by Valisure LLC, an independent analytical laboratory, regarding the presence of residual levels of benzene in certain sunscreens, so EltaMD wants to share an update with you.   Please read below.

EltaMD Update:

Some physicians have asked EltaMD about the Citizen’s Petition submitted to the U.S. FDA by Valisure LLC, an independent analytical laboratory, regarding the presence of residual levels of benzene in certain sunscreens, so EltaMD wants to share an update with you.

Valisure tested numerous sunscreen products, including five EltaMD sunscreens. In one of the five EltaMD products, UV Aero SPF 45, they reported finding 0.11 to 0.17 parts per million of benzene. This level is more than 11 times below the recognized International guidance adopted by the U.S. FDA for benzene as a residual solvent in drug products.

EltaMD does not use benzene as an ingredient in any of their sunscreens, and benzene was not detected in the Valisure tests of any of the other EltaMD sunscreens tested: EltaMD UV Clear, UV Shield, UV Daily and UV Pure. EltaMD has not yet confirmed the presence or the source of benzene in UV Aero.

EltaMD wants to assure you we are taking this matter very seriously. We are reviewing Valisure’s results and testing methodology as well as conducting our own investigation, including testing and working to assess possible sources of benzene.

EltaMD understands your concerns regarding the Valisure report, and we want you to know that your patients’ health, safety and trust in your counsel are our highest priorities. EltaMD sunscreens are produced under FDA’s rigorous drug regulations that establish strict requirements for the methods, facilities, and controls used in the manufacturing of drug products. The regulations — and EltaMD processes and controls – ensure that our products are safe and effective. EltaMD works relentlessly to uphold the commitment we share with you to protect the health of people.

EltaMD is deeply grateful for your continued partnership and your trust in our brand and our products.

Can A Hot Bath Deliver Some of The Same Effects as Exercise?

The term “exercise is medicine” is rightfully well publicized. It’s one of the best ways to stay healthy, yet medicine doesn’t work if you aren’t prepared to take it. Exercise adherence is very poor, with many people unwilling to exercise due to lack of time and motivation. And for those who are older or have chronic diseases, exercise can also cause pain. In effort to find such a solution, more information is emerging on how hot baths and saunas affect the body. Throughout human history, multiple cultures around the world have used heat therapy to improve health. The Effects of Virus Variants on COVID-19 Vaccines

According to Dr. Farnesi, one of the things that isn’t talked about enough in the media is the fact that the more the virus spreads and replicates in people, the more it has a chance to mutate.  Mutations happen in the process of replication of genes. So, whether it’s vaccination, wearing a mask, good ventilation, avoiding crowded places, distancing – all measures help decrease the spread and therefore replication of the virus. The more measures that are taken, the less mutations there will be. For more information, please click here: the-effects-of-virus-variants-on-covid-19-vaccines
